Young Manager Impresses After First Year As Head Coach
Villa have won their first 3 games of the season after beating newly-promoted Blackburn Rovers. The game, which took place at Villa Park, marked an incredible start for the midland club, who sit second in the FA Women’s Championship.
In an interview on the Aston Villa website, Davies is very grateful to receive the League Managers Association Award (LMA) for the month but it is the players and staff who share this awarded along with her.
She has highlighted creating a platform to succeed and a fighting spirit, which has been evident in recent games i.e. the 3-2 comeback against Sheffield United and making game-changing substitutions that has won them the game.
Marieanne Spacey-Cale MBE, the Chair of the LMA, said:
“The work Gemma and her team has done over the summer, bringing in new signings and technical work on the training pitch has shown in the results of their first two games.
“Sheffield United and London City Lionesses are both competitive teams in the FA Women’s Championship, so for Gemma to have six points on the board already, represents a great start for her and Aston Villa.”
