Much changed Reims defended bravely against Lyon
Amandine Miquel’s Reims performed like giants, keeping out Sonia Bompastor’s Lyon, who had a stunning 27 attempts on goal but only managed to squeeze two goals out of the 7th placed team.
The Division 1 Feminine leaders saw this game as one not only to remain unbeaten, but to further widen the gap between themselves and their chasers, Paris St Germain; who are only 3 points behind them.
Lyon dominated in almost every match game stat, holding 70% of possession and as well as having 14 of their 27 attempts on goal, on target. More interestingly, they also led for the number of fouls committed in the game, 13 in comparison to Reims 5 offences.
It could be said that Reims display was extremely heroic in what seemed to be only defence vs attack since the home side could only muster 2 shots against the visitors. Despite their selection troubles the club still sits firmly in 7th place and have only just lost again after sealing a narrow victory against Issy FF earlier in the month.
Goals from Melvine Malard (61′) and Wendie Renard (90+3) sealed their matchday 15 victory.
