Petermann and Banušić get double
Today’s match took place at the Stade Bernard-Delage where the winner’s, Montpellier, where the away team.
The opening goal of the game came from 26-year-old forward Lena Petermann got onto the end of a recovered ball and took advantage of the opportunity very well since no team could grab a hold of the game (17′); it was very balanced.
The second goal saw the involvement of Sweden’s Marija Banušić who set up Petermann for the second after driving up the pitch with the ball. Only 30 minutes of the game had been played and Soyaux were already on their way to their first home defeat of the season.
One of the benefits that reside in half time is the chance to learn from your mistake and come back fighting; this was the case for the home side as they came out of the blocks with attempts on goal. However, despite the enthusiasm, they lacked accuracy and for sure were punished for this later on.
Five minutes into the second half, any chances of coming back into the game were put to bed when Banušić took the ball in her stride and converted her chance. Not long after the game was for sure of reach as Haitian international Nérilia Mondésir found Banušić who slotted the ball away again (64′).
Nina Stapeldelt scored Soyaux’s consolation.
Montpellier HSC is at the top of Division 1 Féminine with 7 points.
