Sharpe Shooting
With Aston Villa’s Head Coach, Gemma Davies, rotating her squad, it can be said that Villa’s winning ways were sacrificed. The lack of consistency showed with no cohesive styles of play and consequently Durham’s Molly Sharpe punished them for it.
Her two first half goals certainly set the tempo for the second half and even though super sub Shania Hayles was called into action, she couldn’t leave a mark.
Sharpe’s first goal was poacher like, capitalising on a miss control in the opposition box; and she just got enough to get it past the keeper. Her second was lest robust, charging down the inside right channel before swiftly striking the ball into the net.
Former Sunderland defender, Abby Holmes, sealed victory for Durham Women by getting onto the end of a corner on the far post, she was practically left unmarked; it was a comfortable header.
