Lionesses Win On Rebranded Debut
London City Lionesses embark on a new journey in the FA Women’s Championship after their split from South East London club Millwall during the summer. Though their name may be different, most of the players from last season featured in Sunday’s win over Leicester City; who enter into their second season in the FA Women’s Championship.
On the score sheet was Ylenia Priest (19), scoring from a corner, Leanne Cowan (48) who converted within the box and Evie Clark, who netted her first goal of the campaign after Flo Fyfe’s shot rebounded off the crossbar.
Leicester did receive a consolation goal when Libby Smith converted from close range from Lachante Paul’s free-kick.
