Arsenal women beaten on penalties
There were many opportunities at the start of the game with City putting on the pressure in the first 5 minutes of the game.
Arsenal, however, had the first real chance of the game when Katie McCabe got on to the end of Katrine Veje’s cross but she couldn’t take advantage of the opportunity.
Later in the game, after Steph Houghton cleared Danielle Van De Donk’s teasing cross, Nikita Paris was nearly through on goal but Leah Williamson managed to stop the City winger.
With substitutions coming on in the second half, both team were unable to break the deadlock and as a result the game was taken to penalties; where keeper Karen Bardsley made two spectacular saves.
