Julie Urhman’s newly founded club to launch in 2022 NWSL expansion
Angel City FC is a club that was founded by entrepreneur Julie Urhman alongside famous sports stars but more notably Eva Longoria, Natalia Portman, and Serena Williams.
Julie Urhman is a gaming and tech entrepreneur most recognized for her OUYA console.
In a conversation with Sky Sports News, Urhman believed that having such a star-studded level of involvement would allow help to raise the profile of the club as well as the league and consequently the National Women’s Soccer League.
Angel City is a team that was founded in July and originates from Los Angeles, California; hence the birth of an iconic team name.
When we went out and tried to raise money, the message really resonated with women.
“It was the idea that we were approaching this differently, the idea that the mission was as important as the sport. And also the idea of building a team that wasn’t legacy sports and that we could think a little differently about the product we put on and off the field.”
