Wolfsburg Put Six past Twente

Wolfsburg through to last 8 already?

Frauen-Bundesliga giants VFL Wolfsburg have stormed past  Twente in today’s UEFA Women’s Champions League  fixture.

Some may call it a statement after many years of losing out to teams such as Lyon in recent years.  A stunning 20 minutes in the second half saw Wolfsburg quadruple their lead and put doubt of their chance aaside from the visiting team at the AOK Stadion,

Scoring first was Zsanett Jakabif (24′), breaking the deadlock and putting easing the pressure off her team going into the second half.

The German’s continued to play strongly, and they were rewarded when Dutch international and former Arsenal forward, Dominique Bloodworth, put the side up 2-0. The moment came and in quick succession, Pernille Harder and Friolina Rolfo (71′, 78′) made sure their was no hope for Twente; breaking their spirits.

Bloodworth grabbed her second just before the end of time and this put Twente’s chances to get through further out of reach; however, nothing is impossible, we know what a strong start can do. Barcelona and Liverpool both have historic wins when all seemed lost in the men’s game.

There is always a chance.
