Lyon deal could be done before 2020 season

OL owner, Jean-Michel Aulas is undergoing talks to purchase a team in the NWSL in plans to internationalise his club.

Lyon, who play in the Division 1 Feminine, are the current UEFA Women’s Champions League holders and have won the competitions a record six times.

As reported by SportsPro, Aulas  said “Our international expansion also involves a project in the United States with the decision to take over a women’s football franchise,”

“The project is progressing well and we aim to be operational before the start of the next season, in March to April 2020.”

This follows on from the reported expansion of the National Women’s Soccer League  from 9 to 12 teams.
