England 1 – 2 Brazil : Debinha Capitalises On Mistakes

Lionesses lose composure in second half

Despite being identified as favourites for the game, England Women did have chances early in the game, but they failed to take the lead. Going close for the Lionesses was Manchester City's Keira Walsh, striking from range in the first 3 minutes of the game.

This was followed by Beth Mead putting in a delicious cross for Taylor, who caused difficulties for the keeper and allow Parris to have a tap in; however, the goal was disallowed.

Half time came and Brazil's game changing substitiutions surely did change the game. Four minutes into the second half, the Brazilians took the lead through Debinha, Her header was misjudged by Manchester United keeper, Mary Earps, and as a result the ball slips through her grasps.

20 minutes later Debinha was in again, pouncing on another mistake by the Lionesses. This time the ball was left loose after a ball into the box left England scrambling and Debinha's strike ended up into the corner as Houghton tried to block the attempt. Brazil were 2-0 up.

However, England continued to battle hard to get back into the game and boy didn't it pay off. Chelsea forward Bethany England was only on the pitch for a couple minutes and she grabbed herself a goal. Houghton on the right flank delivered a decent ball in the box and she heads the ball to get the nation back into the game.
