United seal first win of the season
Goals from Lauren James and Katie Zelem lit up the Leigh Sports Village.
Lauren James’ first chance came in the first half after she struck the bar; she used the step over very cleverly and found enough space to take on the shot.
This definitely gave her the confidence that she will score sooner or later. The 17 year old, assisted by Jess Sigsworth, fooled the defender to put the ball in.
The second scorer, Katie Zelem also came close to betting Man Utd’s Preuss but her free kick was parried away emphatically. However, like James, Zelem got her goal in injury time; converting a spot kick when Leah Galton was brought down in the box.
