Golden Glove Winner Sari Van Veenendaal Nominated
It has been an outstanding year for women’s future thus far and it is only getting better. This year we are going to see the launch of the FIFA’s The Best Award for female goalkeepers to be given out for the first time in history.
The nominees for this are Hedvig Lindahl of Sweden, Tiane Endler of Chile and Dutch sensation Sari Van Veenendaal.
Van Veenendal commented on her nomination:
“This award says something about the level of female goalkeepers, and I think we have to celebrate it, because it means that we’re being taken seriously. It’s a very important step. Women’s football is growing and now it’s as if the ‘keepers are growing too, so let’s celebrate this accolade together, because it’s ours”.
