FC Barca Femeni Claim Victory Despite Sending Off
Spain’s international defender, María Pilar León, was sent off on the 86th minute for an obstruction on England forward, Eniola Aluko, who was through on goal and was likely to score; giving the Italian’s a chance to get back into the game. At the moment, it was a nonchalant tackle and León tried to dispute she had done nothing wrong; and her teammates surrounding the referee did not make the situation look any better.
In spite of this, Juventus’ bad luck began at their own hands after the Italian’s failed to clear the ball properly; after blocking an initial attempt on goal. As a result, they left an opening for Alexia Putellas who pounced on the chance to put the Catalans ahead 6 minutes from half time.
Doubling their lead was Marta Torrejón – (72) who headed in from Putellas’ cross.
