Royals reach SSE Women’s FA Cup for the first time
Reading 3 – 2 Manchester United
Reading women are going to the semi-final of the women’s FA Cup for their shock win over Manchester United.
Despite having 90 minutes to score, no team could put the ball into the back of the net, but extra-time is where the game to a turn; one one of excitement.
5 goals were scored between both clubs on either side of the 30 minutes extra time. However, no one expected Reading to be the team to come out of the game with the win.
Goals from Allen, Furness and Burton, at almost every 10 minutes since the beginning of half time, Reading held on against a United team who just came coming back in a similar time frame.
Reading Women Manager, Kelly Chambers, was pleased with her team’s performance:
“We did make hard work of it. But the fight they showed to come back and the belief that they could still win the game was phenomenal. We need to make sure we take that into the rest of the season and make sure we finish it on a high.”
