Liverpool 0 – 4 Chelsea
In a seemingly one sided game, 8th placed Liverpool Women lose at home to 3rd place Chelsea Women.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the best player was Fran Kirby, who grabbed the first of her two goals in the first half; from being an assisted by Ramona Bachmann on the 16th minute and scoring from the penalty spot 6 minutes later after Leandra Little handled the ball inside the area.
There were also chances to make it 3-0, when Erin Cuthbert’s header was nicely saved and this was the closest they came in the first half, but Hannah Blundell’s low strike on the 47th minute was also a defining moment for the Blues to seal the 3 points.
However, Cuthbert came to life in the second half to provide an assist for Fran Kirby on the 51st minute, who finished off the attack with a left footed shot in the midle of the box. Despite Liverpool making subsitutions, bringing on Rinsola Babajide for Kirsty Linnett, then replacing Yana Daniels with Ashley Hodson, Chelsea managed to keep up the intensity and were rewarded with their 4th goal during injury time.
This came about when, Bachmann, who provided the assist for Chelsea’s first goal, found substitute, Adelina Engman with her cross; and the 24 year old Finnish forward headed home nicely.
