2015 World Cup winning team sue governing body over equal pay

In a report by the NY Times , all 28 members of United States women’s national team filed the lawsuit against the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) on Friday, 7th March.

Given the fact that the 2019 Fifa Women’s World Cup is only a few month’s away, one could say that the lawsuit, which has been filed in the United States District Court in Los Angeles, has been issued at the wrong time.

This is an escalation of a long and on-going dispute over equal pay, medical treatment and working conditions (training environment etc). The claim that has been made by the squad members is that the discrimination has been “institutionalised”.
