The governing body of the Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) has agreed to expand its second tier the SWPL two. The expansion is set to be completed in 2020.

Fiona McIntyre, the executive officer of Scottish Women’s Football (SWF), also stated that there will be no relegations from the SWPL Two this season, but one team from the each regional division (north & south) will be promoted this year.

Fiona McIntyre added:

“With the development of increasingly ambitious clubs, it is important that our structures reflect that,” said SWF executive officer, Fiona McIntyre.

“We are delighted with how the format of the SWPL has worked.”

“We see 2019 as a year of having significant consultation with our members about the structure of our game. As it continues to grow, we know we need to adapt to meet that demand.”
