China to create more women’s teams

The Chinese Football Association (CFA) are in the process of creating more female football teams through the issue of a new policy.

This policy is set to be actioned this year, at the beginning of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and will be part of professional league entry regulations set by the Chinese Federation.

All the top clubs will be required to have their own women’s team by 2020.

This move follows the lead of FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, who has been growing the women’s game since his appointment. For example, the prize fund for the FIFA Women’s World Cup has been doubled.

The new teams will compete in the Chinese Women’s Super League and this new policy is a beginning of a series of plans to improve the women’s game.
