Ji’s Stunning Free Kick Levels The Score for Chelsea

The final score in a game that was filled with many opportunities against league leaders Manchester City Women ended 2-2.

The first chance in the game came very only on in the match as Bethany England tried to capitalise on a mistake made by City’s defence but she couldn’t take advantage of the opportunity with Karen Bardsley swooping in just in the nick of time.

However, it was City who were in charge with two first half goals from Belgian International,Tessa Wullaert, and, England starlet Georgia Stanway.

The second half saw Chelsea Women’s Ji score after capitalising on two mistakes. First, a failed attempt by City to get the ball back into the box whilst in possession and then a failed attempt to clear the ball whilst  preventing the counter attack.

Nikita Parris did have a chance to put City 3-1 up but she couldn’t make the most of her chance. On the 89th minute, Ji So-Yun, sealed their comeback, levelling the score as her deflected  free kick beat Bardsley and nestled in the right hand side of the goal.

So what was said at half time?

Chelsea Women Manager, Emma Hayes said it was simple: “It’s not difficult – be aggressive, do what you are good at, and you have to show them what champions look like.”
