Spurs Ladies Comeback From Behind
Manchester United Women have been making most of the noise with their reintroduction into the women’s footballing pyramid, but Spurs Ladies have been silently building upon their performances last season and it has paid off so far with the North London club currently sit at the top of the FA Women’s Championship.
After their 8 – 0 win over Millwall one of this season’s London derby’s, Spurs entered the game against Villa in good form; however, it was the away side who made the best start.
Kerri Welsh started the scoring after only 7 minutes into the game and also she had scored her third goal of the season. They continue to perform well, utilizing a high press to win back possession but there were many chances missed and they were later punished by Spurs’ Ashleigh Neville, who levelled the score 4 minutes from half-time.
The second half saw both terms attempting to get the winning goal, but when Nadine Hanssen was penalised for alleged handball, Rianna Dean stepped up to the plate to seal the three points for Spurs.
