Chelsea Women’s unbeaten run put to an end by Arsenal
The home team lost 5 – 0 in the London derby at the Kingsmeadow against Arsenal on Sunday and their 100 percent start to the season was cut short.
Hayes commented on the outcome and it does seem that the application of pressure early on the game did not pay off:
‘I thought we were the better team and we were playing well, but we haven’t been clinical,’ she told ChelseaFC.com.
‘That’s the difference between the two teams; Arsenal’s first opening in the game, a penalty, and they go one-nil up. Their second opening in the game, they go two-nil up. That’s the difference between the two teams until that point. And then when they’re in the winning position it’s easy to talk about what they do so well because they’re in the winning position. I didn’t think my team gave up, they fought to the end, but we lacked the quality both sides of the ball in the key moments in the game.’
